Despite being recognized as the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers globally, radon surveillance in Canada has historically been fragmented and standardization across provinces has been limited, impeding effective risk assessment and mitigation. The BCCDC established the BC Radon Data Repository (BCRDR) in 2019 to address this gap provincially, centralizing indoor radon measurement data from across the province into a single database to facilitate research and public health action. This presentation summarizes the results of a mixed-methods evaluation of the BCRDR, examining its acceptability, representativeness, and usefulness from the perspectives of radon measurement providers and data users. The findings highlight the value of the BCRDR as a surveillance and knowledge-sharing tool and can be used to improve the existing local repository, as well as inform the development of a national-level repository currently in development by Health Canada.
