Global Health Security Initiative Symposium
The 2025 Global Health Security Initiative (GHSI) Symposium, organized by the Chemical Events Working Group in partnership with the National Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health (NCCEH), convened virtually on February 6, 13, and 20, 2025. The symposium brought together over 565 participants from 70 countries to advance the public health response to chemical incidents through strengthened collaboration between poison centers and public health agencies. The symposium addressed the critical importance of coordinated efforts across the Disaster Management Cycle, including surveillance, prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.
Environments and Health Research Summit
The CIHR Environmental Health Summit 2023 brought together diverse experts, policymakers, and Indigenous leaders to advance collaborative research, policy, and knowledge translation in environmental health. The Summit focused on key themes such as One Health, Planetary Health, the Exposome, and Indigenous Ways of Knowing. Participants identified knowledge gaps, set research priorities, and developed recommendations to better integrate environmental health into Canadian health policy and practice.
The event was co-hosted by the Canadian Urban Environmental Health Research Consortium (CANUE) and the National Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health (NCCEH).
