The Emergency and Disaster Readiness Community of Practice (EDR-CoP) is a collaborative forum bringing together environmental public health professionals, emergency management professionals, and policymakers. The primary objective is to share information that supports preparedness, response, and recovery from environmental health emergencies and disasters.
Environmental health emergencies and disasters are events that severely threaten public health, safety, and ecosystems. These emergencies and disasters can be natural or human-made and include events like oil spills and industrial accidents, and natural hazards such as floods, wildfires, extreme heat events, major storms, and earthquakes. Invitees to this collaborative space share a common goal/challenge: preparing for and responding to the increasingly intense and more frequent environmental health emergencies and disasters impacting Canadian communities and supporting recovery efforts.
The collaborative space will support regular meetings, featured webinars, weekly updates, a resource repository, and will provide opportunities to learn and share with colleagues across Canada. Our dedicated online platform, on Mighty Networks, allows for engagement through the sharing of events, resources, presentations, experiences, and opportunities to connect and collaborate.
Membership to this group is by invitation only. If your responsibilities encompass environmental health emergency and disaster readiness, please contact us via [email protected] to request membership.
