PHO Learning Exchange: Managing iGAS Outbreaks in Congregate Living Settings
This PHO Learning Exchange focuses on sharing experiences and response strategies for managing invasive Group A Streptococcal Disease (iGAS) outbreaks in congregate living settings (CLS). Halton and Southeast Public Health Units will share their experiences and insights from managing iGAS outbreaks in a correctional facility and long-term care setting and identify challenges encountered and lessons learned. Specific focuses include surveillance and screening protocols, laboratory testing processes, chemoprophylaxis assessment and recommendations, infection prevention and control (IPAC) practices, and emerging priorities for future case, contact and outbreak management strategies.
