In this session, the audience will have an opportunity to learn from the latest findings on the impacts of climate change to mental health in Canada. Dr. Hayes will present research published in the 2022 Health of Canadians in a Changing Climate Report. In this session, Dr. Hayes will:
- Summarize how disasters resulting from climate change impact the mental health of a population.
- Give examples of the inequitable burden of climate related mental health disorders.
- Outline approaches to surveillance and monitoring of the mental health effects of climate change.
- Comment on the mental health effects of climate-related displacement.
- Explain how to navigate new climate and mental health terminology.
- Outline some of the targeted interventions to support mental health and well-being.
