We owe immense gratitude to those who research diligently, engage in studies, share their stories, lead ceremonies and facilitate healing circles. Through this, an understanding of how current organizational structures perpetuate values that harm marginalized identities.
This introductory session delves into the root causes of widening social disparities and violence. It looks at the costly initiatives that create no meaningful change on unceded Indigenous lands and territories. The facilitator, through stories, knowledge and lived experience, will introduce a collective impact model that enhances understanding of health determinants and fosters sustainable change.
About the facilitator:
Becky Sasakamoose-Kuffner is an anti-racist practitioner, knowledgeable facilitator and a survivor of the 60’s scoop from Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation. She has undergraduate degrees from the University of Regina, and L’Université Laval with a Master’s of Transformative Justice Education from the University of Saskatchewan.
Becky has extensive work experience as a cultural diversity and race consultant, policy analyst, and employment advisor at the community, provincial and national level. She has founded the Anti-racism Network, is an active member of the National Urban Indigenous Coalitions Council, co-creator of the Indigenous led Equity Indicators Framework and is always grateful for her learning journey on Turtle Island.
