Join NACCHO for a MAHC Network webinar featuring guest speaker Sarah Cheshire, Environmental Health Scientist with the Utah Department of Health and Human Services. On March 31, 2026, from 2:00–3:00 PM ET, Sarah will provide an overview of the different types of cold plunge pools, the current regulations surrounding them, and the health benefits and risks associated with their use. The presentation will also cover pool temperature, water chemistry, and recirculation and treatment systems.

Sarah Cheshire is an Environmental Health Scientist for the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, where she specializes in aquatic safety and regulatory development. With a career rooted in technical field work- beginning as a laboratory technician and water sampler- Sarah now oversees the drafting of the Utah pool rule, ensuring state regulations keep pace with emerging aquatic technologies.
A recognized leader in her field, Sarah sits at the forefront of emerging trends in aquatics. She serves as Chair for the Council for the Model Aquatic Health Code (CMAHC) Cold Water Aquatic Venue Committee and contributes her expertise to the NSF RWF Task Group on Cold Water Plunges and the PHTA-1 Subgroup. She holds a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Utah State University and is a dedicated educator, teaching the Certified Pool & Spa Operator course at the local community college.
Sarah resides in Northern Utah with her husband and is the proud mother of two sons currently serving missions in Slovakia and Argentina.
