Hosted by Canadian Water Network
As wildfires intensify across much of Canada, they serve as a reminder of how climate change is disrupting ecosystems and threatening drinking water supplies.
Join Canadian Water Network for a timely and thought-provoking webinar that will explore how communities can build resilience to climate shocks and secure water sources.
This webinar will feature insights from renowned experts Professor Monica Emelko (University of Waterloo) and Antoine Rempp (Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in Fort McMurray, Alberta).
What to expect:
- Professor Emelko will introduce a practical framework for climate shock preparedness and response, designed to help municipalities identify and mitigate risks to water systems. Her presentation will draw on experience with wildfires, flooding and other disturbances.
- Antoine Rempp will share a case study from Fort McMurray, highlighting lessons learned from recent wildfire and flood events and how the municipality is adapting its approach to water security.
- An interactive Q&A session will follow the presentations, offering participants the opportunity to ask questions and share challenges and insights from their own municipalities.
