Sharing health information with community organizations to promote health equity

Local Public Health Agencies (LPHAs) have an essential role to play in addressing equity. This webinar is an overview of a Locally Driven Collaborative Project that aimed to identify best practices to select, analyze and distribute key health outcome data that enables community partners to better advance health equity in their communities.
The project produced a guide to support sharing data between LPHAs and community partners. Initial stages of an impact assessment found that local community organizations are diverse in their ability and capacity to utilize data. It also indicated that LPHAs are at different stages of data sharing in their communities. Community organizations provided recommendations to improve collaborative data sharing, while LPHA staff suggested recommendations to improve the guide.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe the important role public health agencies have in sharing data with community organizations in order to advance health equity;
- Identify considerations and approaches for enhancing partnerships with community organizations through data sharing processes;
- Apply the lessons learned to their own data sharing practices with community organizations.
Presenters: Dr. M. Mustafa Hirji, Cassandra Ogunniyi, and Karen Graham
