Natasha Warren, Physical Activity Consultant in the Public Health Division of Nova Scotia Healthy Authority (NSHA).
I am the primary NCCEH forum champion for this organization and will reach out to other organizations as key stakeholders.
NSHA has four zones (until 2016, there were 9). A unit was created (2016) to work across zones; I am in this unit.
Central Zone has a Healthy Built Environments position which links planning expertise with the public health expertise. No other zones have this position.
Healthy physical environments is a key part of our Public Health protocols. We are developing our capacity for it; this forum should be helpful.
There is work in NS pertaining to active transportation (incl as it relates to community design), food, housing and natural environments for recreation/physical activity. We are strengthening relationships with municipalities and Mi'kmaw communities.
