Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI) 81st Annual National Educational Conference

The National Collaborating Centres for Environmental Health and Determinants of Health (NCCEH and NCCDH) teamed up to present at the CIPHI 81st Annual National Educational Conference in Ottawa, ON. This session, titled “Looking Back, Moving Forward,” focussed on how the social determinants of health and health equity intersect with the work of public health inspectors (PHIs) and environmental health officers (EHOs) and ways that practitioners can address these factors.

Guest speaker:

  • Vittoria Vecchiarelli, Senior PHI, Regional Municipality of York, Community and Health Services Department, Health Protection Division
Vittoria spoke about her role in a community-based participatory project related to indoor air quality in low income housing, and how the Health Protection Division has developed a health equity committee specific to considering the social determinants of health in environmental public health practice for their region.
